Plan
![]() | BackgroundPerspective is a security incident tracking system, installed in 2013 (EST073). The system is supported by a Canadian company called PPM2000. Perspective allows the security team to log time stamped information about a happening incident, or accident in the University estate. It has a web client front end and records information inside a SQL server database. |
Background
The Scientia Enterprise applications (Enterprise) are the University's chosen application suite for providing a centralised Timetabling service.
Technical Background
These applications interface with an application database known as the Scientia Database (SDB). Each SDB relates to a single academic year. In order for Timetabling planning to be undertaken for next year, an existing copy of the SDB must be "rolled-forward" to the next academic year (16/17 in this case). .
Priority and Funding
This is a core-funded priority 2 project
Impact and Dependencies
The project assumes that the SDB and webapps have been rolled forward under TTU010 and that improvements to the SATSTAGE and SPDAs will be delivered by TTU011
Calsync to be delivered under COM022, date of roll-forward to be agreed with business.
Work/Task Breakdown
IS Applications - roll-forward data and interfaces
TTU - business analysis and testing
Apprpximate split:
Project services - 42 days
Development services (CSG) - 33 days
Developlemt Technology - 44 days
Production management - 10 days
All teams - 34 days
Resources Skills and Cost
Estimate 180 days IS Apps effort
The Scientia Timetabling system has a dataset for each academic year. This is rolled forward each year to allow classes, rooms etc to be allocated for the new academic year.
The roll-forward takes place in steps at appropriate times in the calendar. This is compliance work that is too large to be delivered within the current support budget.
Work/Task Breakdown
This project will deliver a number of small batches of enhancements to Finance applications. This is the current in a series of annual projects, which provide small scale improvements for Finance, over and above the "business as usual" support provided by Applications Management.
This project will be specific to the applications owned by Finance's SAS team. The Project Sponsor is Lee Hamill.
Background
This project was initiated to identify and deliver key enhancements to ABS and IS Apps-developed applications within Finance's SAS team.
Priority and Funding
This project is priority 2, and is being core funded. The budget is fixed at 50 days.
Impact and Dependencies
The batches of enhancements will be specific to the SAS team. However, it is possible that, to achieve acceptance sign-off, a batch may also require some testing by the FIS team. If so, then this will be arranged by the Business Lead, in advance of the UAT stage.
There will be Acceptance and Deployment sign off reviews for each batch.
