Rooms Brief
Rooms
Scope
- To examine the cost against benefits of equipping smaller teaching spaces based on the expected usage for lectures and audio recording quality.
- Analysis exercise alongside College IT colleagues to best determine which of the smaller rooms should be enabled for lecture recording.
- Working in tandem with the Timetabling Unit to ensure that the process of allocating enabled rooms is robust.
- Not in scope: Specialist space. This will be within the scope of a subsequent project.
Objective and Deliverables
O1
To compete our room installations as set out within the original business plan. This should be done while taking into account the guidance from the Academic User Group, the Programme Board and the Steering Group that we focus not only on new room installations but also on the quality enhancements identified by the project team through their experience during the running of the service.
D1.1
Final room installation list, agreed with college representatives on the Steering Group and ratified by the Programme Board. (M)
D1.2
Further rollout of dual microphones which have been successfully installed in our larger spaces. Dual microphones significantly cut down on human and technical error by providing a backup in rooms. (M)
D1.3
All room installations and room upgrades as set out in the room installation list are complete for the start of term 19/20. (M)
O2
Continue to align more closely the working relationship between Timetabling and Learning Spaces Technology (LST) as set out in the Timetabling Spaces Review.
D2.1
LST will take control of room attribute data within the timetabling system (Scientia). (HD)
O3
Continual support of new and research initiatives.
D3.1
An extension of the Chalkboard Pilot which has been successfully proven with colleagues within the College of Science and Engineering. (M)
D3.2
Support for any (Principal Teaching Award Scheme) PTAS research projects. (HD)
