Plan

Background

The purpose of this project is to audit and better understand the makeup and charging model within the College for the EdLAN configuration.  From this audit, we should be in a position to rationalise our estate, provide transparency around the model in place, and then forward plan the most appropriate strategy based on the “as is” and “to be” infrastructure requirements.

Background

Across the majority of the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, a bespoke room booking and timetabling system is used.

Biomedical sciences use the Central University “free at the point of use” timetabling and Web Room Booking (WRB) system, however, all other areas use the MVM Room booking system.

This system was originally built by the Learning Technology Section (LTS), with hardware located in the Hugh Robson Building and support for the product provided via some of the staff from the LTS section.

Background

Current IT portfolio management is inadequate.  Within the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, there is no College wide breakdown of how the underpinning IT is configured and used, making it very difficult to benchmark as a first class IT service and to articulate a vision of where we are, and where we want to be. One of the first elements of the College IT strategy is to provide such a breakdown, encompassed in the College IT Portfolio.
