Project Brief Estimation Details

Having estimated the project at 95 days; the following presents a breakdown of the estimated resource and associated functionality

 

Planning - 10 days

Planning for the Brief  includes a number of meetings, setting up the project website, estimation process, and planning the tasks required

To-date 7 days have been utilised as part of the planning process (Actual 9.8 days)

 

Project Management - 27 days

This will provide time for

  • the project manager  to managing all day-to-day project activities, replanning when required, regular communication, and maintaining project website,
  • additional support from programme and portfolio managers when required

 

Business Analysis - 22 days (used 29 and need to allocate more tasks and time + 2 remaining for Test scripts)

This relates to the estimated time for the business analyst to

  • documenting existing processes (4 days) (completed)
  • gather and document business requirements (6 days) (completed Works)
  • review system options, assist with the proof of concept  and prepare gap analysis (10 days)

 

  • establishing Acceptance Test scripts (2 days)

 

Systems Design - 10 days

This relates to the following activities

  • technical support incorporating the production of the relevant technical documentation  - 2 days
  • technical support throughout the test phase of the project - 3 days
  • consultant led workshops regarding standard functionality, gap analysis and proposed configuration  - 5 days (in progress)

 

Configuration and Integration - 8 days

This relates to

  • the production of on-going technical support documentation
  • handover to production for on-going support
  • Refresh of DEV and TEST from LIVE
  • initial system checks to ensure that the test system is fully functioning prior to user acceptance tests

 

Acceptance  - 14 days

Whilst the majority of testing will be carried out by Estates Department staff, there will be additional time required to complete

  • system load (stress) tests, incorporating the production of electronic scripts, monitoring and subsequent analysis of system performance
  • technical support during this phase
  • overseeing of user acceptance testing by business analyst

 

Deployment and Closure - 4 days

This relates to

  • technical support post-go live
  • closure report and project closure activity
