The Assessment strand of the Student Systems Roadmap is a multi-year project. It will be supported in 2014/15 by two strands:
1. Implementation of the ‘Informing Students of their Final Programme, Course and Progression results’ policy
This work follows on from the work in 2013/14 on the communication of final Awards and will have a focus on the ‘communication of all final progression decisions’ and ‘formal communication of final course marks’. Schools will be able to enter progression decisions into EUCLID and these will be communicated to students via EUCLID self-service.
As well as development of tools, the project teams are working with Schools to implement the business process changes required to support the policy.
The software to support Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate students will be delivered in March , with the peak use expected towards the end of June.
2. Development of EUCLID Assessment and Progression tools.
The relevant SITS components have been purchased to support Assessment and Progression within EUCLID. The project will enhance and expand on the 'out the box' functionality to provide functionality to :
- set up and maintain assessment component data (to question level)
- enter assessment marks
- calculate course marks and support course exam boards
- calculate recommended progression and award/classification
- support progression classification boards.
We will release a version of the software and run it as a pilot in the academic year 2015/16 for a limited number of programmes and courses over across section of Schools with a further rollout in 2016/17. There will be ongoing evaluation of the pilot to determine the rollout schedule. The aim is to have all Schools on board at the beginning of the 2017/18 academic year and we expect all SMART schools to be using the new system in 2016/17, enabling SMART to be decommissioned.
