16/12/13 Team Meeting

Attending:

Stuart McFarlane, Keith Brunton, Martin Morrey,  Arthur Wilson, Aina Puncule, Alain Forrester, Emilio Perez-Lopez, Richard Good, Ana Heyn, Chris Cord, Morna Findlay

The meeting concentrated on issues which might prevent the acceptance sign-off in January, and hence the live upgrade date of 3/2/14

Themebuilder issues

There are two issues outstanding.  Martin noted that attempting to get themebuilder working has been a drain on resources in development technology and WIT, and on the users who have been helping us to test it. Arthur stated that the team does not have a lot of confidence that all issues can be addressed and themebuilder thoroughly tested before the acceptance review. Without themebuilder we need another way to provide scrollbar functionality. Keith also noted that themebuilder users use thebuilder macros to control access to their spaces. Without this these users would have to find other ways to do this.

DECISION

We will continue to try to address with Adaptivist for the remainder of the time before the acceptance review.

ACTION:

Arthur will pursue themebuilder fix with Adaptivist

Martin noted that the scrollbar functionality could be replaced vy using additional simple macros.

Keith will detail how themebuilder is used to control spaces etc and pass to Martin.

Martin to test alternative scrollbar functionality: https://www.jira.is.ed.ac.uk/jira/browse/WEB004-91

UAT Plan

JIRA issues

Arthur will make sure all  tests which failed or were doubtful have corresponding JIRA issues.

Martin will re-prioritise JIRA issues.

Mobile view

The issues with the mobile view ( and desktop view on mobile devices) was discussed. The desktop view isn't very good but the mobile view is not really usable.

DECISION

We will disable the mobile view as it does not work well enough and adds to user confusion.

ACTION:

Arthur to disable mobile view on TEST

Arthur to add step to upgrade implementation plan to disable mobile view on LIVE after upgrade.

Arthur and Christina to refine FAQs to reflect use of desktop view on mobile devices.

Deployment checklist

Ana reported no concerns from production re proceeding to acceptance. Chris agreed.

Morna asked if production wished the benchmarking checks which were  carried out on current LIVE to be repeated on TEST but Ana stated that these should be repeated after the upgrad, on new LIVE.

Ana noted that the service documentation will have to be updated after the upgrade.

User Group Meeting

At the next meeting we will report on progress of the upgrade and on any outstanding issues.

Upgrade Date

Arthur noted that there had not been any objections to the upgrade  date of 3/2/13 which can't be worked around..

Court papers are released on the first of the month but a workaround has been agreed and is in hand.
