Work/Task Breakdown

Set up the people and tasks to move Edinburgh DB to its own server, and make the requisite changes to UniDesk.

Monitor and determine if the issues for our partners have been resolved by the DB move (expectation : yes)

Monitor and determine if the issues for Edinburgh have been resolved by the DB move (expectation : no)

Plan with Apps and other IS colleagues and enagage with TOPdesk in the first week of July to

  • analyse the issues we have with stability and performance for Partners (if still an issue)
  • analyse the issues we have with stability and performance within Edinburgh (if still an issue)
  • review the scaleablility of the current infrastructure to cope with increased amounts of data per university
  • review the scaleablility of the current infrastructure to cope with more users taking up the service
  • review the likely costs and demands of future service is it expands
  • produce a report with one or more recommendations as to how to improve things, prioritised and with any eye to improvements before the start of term

Move of Edinburgh Database Apps - 10 days. Service Management - 5 days.

Recommednation Report Apps - 10 days. Service Management - 5 days. TOPdesk - 2-4 days of consultancy. £2-4K. ITI - TBC USD - TBC
