Assumptions

  • The Library continues to charge fines for overdue items and fees for lost items.
  • The Library continues to accept cash payments at Helpdesks
  • WPM Education is likely to be the payment gateway used but others will be investigated.
  • The project will not make any decisions which would make the follow-on project (to facilitate real time fine payments through  3M selfcheck units) unviable
  • Patrons with fines will be more inclined to pay them online thereby keeping their debt from accruing, and from reaching the £10 limit that leads to their account being blocked from further borrowing.
  • If an item is lost or damaged a fine is never applied - a fee will be applied instead.
