Further information

  • Load Balancing will be considered to ease failover to secondary site if required.  It should be noted that the project is not considering load balacing the application across multiple application servers.
  • Appleton Tower, where the second application server will be passive unless required
  • Project to be costed with 3 servers
  • DR testing will be done on the LIVE environment right before the upgrade is LIVE (so pseudo LIVE)
  • Encryption - requirement to confirm with the supplier that Internet Information Services (IIS) can be configured to encrypt passwords
  • Co-Sign will not be considered as the supplier would have to change Meterology to make this work, so it is out of scope
    • Additional kit is required. Allow time for ITI to prepare the kit and this will result in an Estates cost.
    • Indicative costs will be £1,500 to £2,000  to provide a single server and hosting costs for 5 years. This project will require 3 servers, 1 for TEST and 2 for LIVE. Cost of £4,500- £6,000 for 5 years
      • The 2 LIVE servers are so Estates and Buildings will have 2 LIVE sites, so that if one site is down (Appleton Tower or Kings Building) then the business can switch to the other. This wil be detailed in the Technical Architecture Document
      • Assumption that DB is being held on an existing Server - this has been confirmed there are no costs required for the DB in TEST and LIVE

Resources Skills and Cost

METERolgy will be hosted on a separate infrastructure and the infrastructure costs will be incurred by Estates and Buildings.

Project Estimate 56 days

Server costs of £4,500 - £6,000 for 5 years
