Descriptions

Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) describes scheduled maintenance to an asset or item of equipment to ensure it is operating correctly and to avoid any unscheduled breakdown/downtime

PPM includes good practice planned maintenance as well as statutory compliance required maintenance.  Schedules are generated for specified intervals according to requirements.  Planned maintenance is undertaken in-house but the statutory work is split between in-house trades and term contractors.

Reactive Maintenance describes maintenance that is undertaken when the need arises.  It is undertaken in line with internal Service Levels (priority levels) and can be triggered by PPM findings or stand-alone requests.
