Overview

Background

The Identity Management (IDM) database provides identity data to other services within the University. This data could be pushed to downstream services or pulled from IDM by these services. IDM receives its data from a number of  connectors or inbound services - EUCLID, HR, VRS, Alumni and Org Hierarchy. This data is stored in an Oracle 11g database. Downstream services that rely on IDM include EASE, Central Auth, MyEd, WebCt, Wiki, Polypoly, CCD, HR.

Oracle are withdrawing their extended support for version 11g at the end of 2020. To ensure that we maintain a reliable, supplier compliant platform for the University this project will deliver the migration of the IDM database to Oracle 12.2.

Scope

The scope of this project is to upgrade the Oracle 11g database to Oracle 12.2, and to ensure that that all the Golden Copy, downstream and processing data connections are all connecting to the new database correctly. The infrastructure we migrate to will be the new, existing Oracle 12.2 physical infrastructure.

Additionally the project will be tasked with communications relating to the upgrade and in making sure that all stakeholders have approved our migration timetable.
