Plan

Priority and Funding

The project  is a Compliance project and priority 2 overall.

Replacing old versions of software is necessary for the continued stability, performance and maintenance of running IT services.

For 9i databases, premier support ended July 2007 with extended support having ended in July 2010. Security patches for the product are no longer released and there is no support available for the product by the vendor other than through an upgrade path.

Impact and Dependencies

Background

This proposal is to upgrade the existing Oracle database owned by Web Integration, from Oracle 9.2 to 11.2.

The current version of the Oracle EUPS DEV, TEST and LIVE databases is 9.2. Oracle 9.2 is past its Extended Support date. The three EUPS schemas should be upgraded to lower the cost to the University, to mitigate security issues and to enable the business owner to take advantage of new features which IS will implement in the future.
