Plan

Background

This project is to manage the procurement of Application Delivery Controllers to replace our existing hardware. The existing service hardware will reach its end of support life in April 2017 and we need to have procured a replacement in good time to ensure we have sufficient lead time to migrate to the new hardware.

Background

The University widely uses the RedHat Enterprise Operating System on all managed Linux installations. This is licensed under and academic licensing deal per seat at a very agressive discount. The historical licensing deal excludes us from leveraging support from RedHat and only gains us access to the Operating System and a set of management tools.

Background

Within the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, the standard desktop which is delivered is a variation of the Information Services Facilities Managed (ISFM) desktop.

The ISFM desktop is managed by the Desktop Services Team (DST) and by Graham Newton’s team.

Given that the College use a slightly different model, called the MVM Facilities Managed (MVMFM) model, this creates a potentially unnecessary overhead within the College, which has been problematic from a resourcing perspective over the past few years.
