Dave MC was planning to start Patching TEST HR this afternoon, however Heather has warned us that there is a major issue with the SAN fabric and she recommends not changing anything on the infrastructure until she gets the all-clear from ITI (around 4pm today).

So it is likely that the HR TEST patching will start on Wednesday 18th Dec.shinh

Work/Task Breakdown

The main focus of the project is the assessment of the current application tier services, leading to recommendations and policies for migrating to new infrastructure.  The assessment will involve:

Priority and Funding

This is a priority 2 project and is core funded.

Impact and Dependencies

The annual planning exercise for 14/15 is dependant on this project.  The outcomes of the project will inform business areas about the applications needing migrated, thus ensuring that the migrations are planned into programmes of work for 14/15.

Background

The existing corporate applications infrastructure is reaching end of life and exhibits signs of stress running the current business services. Support for this infrastructure is very costly and cost savings will be achieved migrating to an enhanced infrastructure (such as an x86 based infrastructure similar to the new database tier). Support for the physical infrastructure may expire from the hardware supplier. Significant performance improvements will be achieved moving to an enhanced infrastructure.
