A similar migration was carried out in project ITS103 and INF121 has taken into account the lessons learned, risks and issues from that one.

We will pull together a list of services and usernames for each database, and from that we will see what applications are using it, and who looks after them.

For deployment, we will do this in three phases. NewsLive will be the first to be migrated through to LIVE. This will be followed by GenLive, and finally AppsLive will be deployed in 17/18. The clean up excersise will then take place to remove the redundant services, and this will not affect any applications or the database.

We will check that DEV and TEST works for each application ahead of doing the migration.

We will need to perform an analysis to find out the connection method each application uses to connect to the database. This is to see if it uses TNS or Direct, that way we will then know if we need a developer to change this for the migration.

There is a large number of business users involved in this project, so increased effort required to communicate with business owners and sign off UAT

APPSLIVE is going to be the more complex migration because of the volume of differing applications, which is why it is given a higher estimate.

Testing will take a lot of effort from Application Management; to test not just after the migration on Dev and Test but also before to ensure applications were working correctly before any work started.
