Lynda.com Presentation to SMT
Hi Jenni and Nikki,
Thanks for the excellent presentation to SMT. I think the group found it very useful. It was a shame that we didn't have time to cover all the slides or provide a demo. If you can send me the slide set I'll publish these and share them with the group.
For me the most contentious thing seems to be access for Visitors. I think this needs definite policy cover i.e. Gavin needs to be asked to decide whether or not Lynda.com should be made available to Visitors. I understand that this may not be a simple yes/no in each case. There are different categories of staff-like and student-like visitors and eligibility may be different for each category of visitor. I think you should aim to confirm policy with Gavin next month when he returns from leave.
The other thing worth coming back to is alumni access. It's clear this is out of scope but it could be a very good value add for alumni (and hence current students). I'd document this on a PICCL entry as out of scope but formally contact Melissa and Gavin to ask them if they wish to take this forward with DAS.
Finally there the question of promoting the new service. Gavin advised that is should be communicated widely on every available channel. Previously there has been tension in that only LTW wished to promote the new service in line with the agreed communication plan. Please can you confirm whether you wish to keep this lockdown on communication or whether you are now happy for IS Apps and others in ISG to promote the service. Personally I'd be very happy to tweet about the service and write and news article for publication on the IS Apps web site if that would be useful. Please let me know.
Thanks again for stepping up today to give the presentation. Good job!
