This project aims to investigate approaches for delivering useful and understandable analytics data to students who use the Moodle platform for Online Distance Learning. The types of data that are collected within Moodle and how they are used should be made transparent to staff and students, explained in a manner that is easy to understand. This information should be delivered in parallel with related University projects (TEL009 & TEL017).
A number of existing plugins are to be reviewed for suitability for deployment within the University’s Moodle environment. This review should be based on a technical, academic perception, and student engagement basis. The project will require the assistance of a number of academic partners to help facilitate the review and the student experience should also be recognised as a matter of priority.
If suitable plugins offer appropriate benefits to staff and students these plugins can be recommended for inclusion in the production version of Moodle and made available to all courses. There is some scope for refinement and development of plugins if required.
These project activities are to be carried out in accordance to the findings from the TEL009 project and activities should be delivered in parallel to the similar work taking place for the Learn environment in TEL017.
