Overview

Background

 This project will deliver a Reward Calculator which will enable University staff and potential employees to understand the total value of pay and benefits provided by the University of Edinburgh. The Calculator will provide a breakdown of the Total Reward an employee does/could receive based on their Grade, Spinal Point and Pension Scheme. The individual elements of salary, annual leave and pension will be provided along with a narrative explaining Sickness Benefits and Additional Benefits available to an employee of the University of Edinburgh.

Scope

• The Reward Calculator will be available to the world
• The user will enter the Grade, Spinal Point and Pension Scheme
• The calculator will default to the standard pension scheme based on choice of Grade and Spinal Point
• The default will be for FTE (35 hrs per week) with the option for the user to enter part time hours
• The Calculator will return:

1. Total Reward
2. Basic Salary
3. Pension Benefits(including the Employer's Contributon)
4. Annual Leave entitlement
5. Descriptions of Sickness benefits and Additional Benefits

Objectives

• To provide employees and potential employees with a simple Reward Calculator to view the Total Reward value of working for the Universty of Edinburgh
• To ensure the Reward Calculator is easy to use and accessible.

Deliverables

• Reward Calculator available to the world from the HR Pay and Reward area of the University's website  

Benefits

• This service will be of benefit to current employees to understand the total value of their Reward package with the University, not just their basic salary.
• This service will be of benefit to any potential employee as an easy-to-use tool to obtain accurate reward values which can then be used to compare with alternative employer offerings.
• This project helps the University's goal of attracting and retaining the best staff

Success Criteria

• The Reward Calculator will accurately return all the information outlined in the scope section above, once the user has made their selections
• The Reward Calculator will perform on a wide range of browsers
• The Reward Calculator will be accessible.
