Completion Report
Project Summary:
.The project team prioritised the business requirements and project deliverables using an analysis technique known as the MOSCOW method and agreed 1 mandatory (M) and 2 “Should Have” (S) deliverables:
- Software Upgrade (M)
- New Licensing Model (S)
- Disaster Recovery Exercise.(S)
The project was planned in 3 phases, reflecting these deliverables. The Software Upgrade was delivered successfully with no issues. The remaining deliverables had a dependency on Estates reaching an agreement with Schneider about the new licensing model. As this agreement could not reached in the planned timescales, the senior business user, on behalf of the project sponsor, and the programme manager agreed to remove the remaining deliverables from the scope of the project. A request for a Project Scope Review was submitted to WIS and approved.

The deliverables for the New Licensing Model and the Disaster Recovery Exercise can be be addressed in a future project, if required. An estimate has been made for this work and recorded in the estimation log. . However, to keep project management time to a minimum, it is recommended that a future project is not intiated before a new licensing model has been agreed with Schneider.
Analysis of Resource Usage:
Staff Usage Estimate: 15 days
Staff Usage Actual: 8 days
Staff Usage Variance: -47%
Other Resource Estimate: 0 days
Other Resource Actual: 0 days
Other Resource Variance: 0%
Explanation for variance:
.The two non-mandatory deliverables were removed from the scope of the project as a new licence model was not agreed with the external supplier, Schneider.
Key Learning Points:
.Using the MOSCOW method to classify deliverables proved to be very wothwhile. We were able to separate the manadatory from the non-mandatory requirements and plan the project to deliver in phases that refllected the priorities. As a result, the Software Upgrade deliverable was implemented within the budget and timescales.
Outstanding issues:
No issues.
