Priority and Funding

Overall Priority is HIGHER

Priority 1 within the DTI BI/MI Programme

Sponsor funding from DTI . Initial allocation to DTI049 is 300 days.

More days could be  available depending on priorities and allocations across projects within the DTI BI/MI programme. For the whole DTI BI/MI programme , 980 IS Apps days is available in 2019-20 and another 980 days IS Apps effort in 2020-21. The BI/MI Programme budget also needs to fund the work on the separate Finance, Payroll and eRecruitment data mart projects.

DTI049 actual spend to date = 204 days to Fri 4th Oct 2019, of this 123 days have been spent on Sprint 1 and 2 and first 2 weeks of Sprint 3 in 19/20

Project started in June 2019 and most of the 81 days spent in 18/19 was the initial foundation / infrastructure work to get ready for the HR datamart sprints. Future datamart projects will benefit from this shared infrastructure work, and some foundation effort from DTI049 could be assigned against future projects - splitting the 81 days as 31 days HR datamart foundation, 30 days Finance datamart foundation (DTI050) , 10d eRecruitment foundation (DTI051), 10d payroll foundation (DTI052).

It is proposed that the foundation effort from DTI049 in 18/19 is re-assigned as each new datamart project starts. All these projects are funded from the same DTI BI/MI funding pot, so it it all goes back to the same funder - the DTI Digital Transformation portfolio

Impact and Dependencies

The EDW is a new service. The first datamart to go Live will be the Estates EST109 datamart for Estates reporting.

As the HR datamart is being built  on the same EDW infrastructure , work has been done for the HR datamart to separate out the data sources in the shared foundation layer - this work will benefit all future datamarts developed on the EDW.  In theory the DTI049 deployments could impact the Estates datamart, this risk has been reduced by separating out the data sources. The data has been separated in the Staging, Foundation and Access layers to tag the source of the data.

DTI049 is dependent on DTI034 and DTI047 for a full end to end service.

Delivering a strategic reporting service for the new HR core system is dependent on the SEP core team agreeing and publishing  a settled data model for the new Core HR system, before the DTI049 build work can start on loading data from the new core system.

To manage this dependency the project team have started first on loading the known historic data  from the legacy Oracle HR system
