Impact

Priority and Funding

This project has a priority of 1.

The Enterprise APIs Programme has a priority of 1.

The project is funded from the Digital Transformation Portfolio and has 90 days allocated within 2016/17 (see PRICCL Change 4 for summary).

Impact and Dependencies

The DTI013 project will support delivery of APIs by delivering requirements and user stories to inform designs of individual APIs.  The intention is that the boundary between DTI013 and the API delivery projects will be porous with issues passed over when they are ready to be progressed and returned to the central backlog if the delivery project will not deliver them.  DTI013 delivered a proof of concept for StuTalk and this will inform the design of the Student Record API - see proof of concept summary report.

The DTI014 project will deliver the prioritised technology (see draft Technology Roadmap) in order to support delivery of APIs.

The proposed API change process is shown on the previous page.  This process will be used to validate and prioritise requirements delivered by DTI013.

The Student Record API delivered by this project will support delivery of the following projects by exposing student data that can be used by developers within those projects:

  1. DTI011 - User Centred Portal Technological Pilot, part of the User Centred Portal (UCP) programme within Digital Transformation
  2. SAS002 - Student Centred Portal Pilot, part of the Service Excellence, Student Administration and Support programme

Risks

Ref Title Risk Owner
1 Developers with knowledge of Student Systems required to develop API will not be available at the level or time needed Karen Osterburg
2 Risk that the indicative budget allocated will be insufficient Alex Carter
3 Assumption: the business requirements for an API for the user centred portal can be clearly defined Alex Carter
4 Dependency: risk that user stories delivered by DTI013 are not delivered to a sufficient level of quality or detail, or that their delivery is delayed Alex Carter
5 Dependency: risk that products are not delivered by DTI014, or that their delivery is delayed Alex Carter
6 Assumption: data requirements for DTI011 and SAS002 are clearly understood Alex Carter
