IS Applications have been requested to provide enhancements for the Simulated Patient Database in use by the Simulated Patient Co-ordinator and other staff at the Centre for Medical Education, RIE.

The Simulated Patients database is used to schedule Simulated Patients (essentially actors presenting with a range of simulated conditions) for the assessment of:

Under- and Post-grad Medics     Nursing Staff and Students Dental (under- and post-grad)    Clinical and Communication Skills Veterinary Med Students               Exams

The most important requirements are  

• Calendar View as seen in EPPSAT database (number one crucial enhancement)
• Need to balance Simulated Patient scheduling between two or more users
• Alert system to remind the user to raise invoices (this is done in eFinancials)
• Show which scheduled activities are Under- or Post-Grad
• Basic reports to show a breakdown of Exams and Skills, by SP’s across different venues and the time spent in each discipline
• Basic mailmerge letters
