Scottish Clearing Completed

The university has now finished its Scottish clearing process after a successful day of taking calls in Argyle House on the 7th August 2018.

The Clearing 2018 project was developed to support Student Recruitment and Admissions, and the College UG Admissions Offices as they enter UCAS clearing again this year. In Clearing, places are available to prospective students from Scotland, the rest of the UK, and overseas who have not yet secured a place at university, or who have a place at another university but wish to apply with Edinburgh University.

The clearing process on Tuesday was open to applicants from the most deprived 20 per cent of postcodes in Scotland – defined using the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD20), as well as those who have spent time in local authority care.

Everyone was in high spirits as we kicked off the day. The Call Handlers were ready with the new SharePoint form, so that they could gather caller details to send on to the college staff when the caller was transferred through to them.

Over the course of the day, 270 calls were received with 66 being passed onto the colleges. The SIMD20 Postcode Checker worked well and the call handlers were a great team.

Overseas and rUK Clearing takes place on Thursday 16th August and we are well prepared for the event after a smooth Scottish clearing experience.
