The University of Edinburgh centrally managed teaching estate is one of the largest and most complex in the UK, at over 400 spaces and growing. Daily visits and or checks of spaces are undertaken by Estates servitorial staff, concentrating primarily on high traffic areas. In order to provide a more consistent service across such a wide estate, we will deploy and co-ordinate a modified Student Helper system.
Student helpers have previously been utilised as part of the three-year lecture recording implementation and our experiences with that initiative have informed this rollout. Additionally, we are taking learnings from successful rollouts of student support with learning spaces maintenance at other UK institutions.
