Achievements in Last Period

  • The option we went with was to do Coverage/Population, Audit and Study Mode this Academic Year (resource permitting). 
  • Completed Coverage/Population and Audit design (technical requirements articulated for starting the build).  Still on track but will need time to analyse and spec detailed requirements for Mode of Study for new developer starting in February.
  • Resource gaps highlighted to project board. Agreed to allocate 2nd developer to project from Feb 2020

Issues

Note that 2nd stream - new data required to be captured at the next registration. PM secured and analysis work in progress see separate initiated project https://secure.projects.ed.ac.uk/project/sac078

Next Steps​

  • Complete mode of study design from Feb 2020 post PCIM work
  •  Start build (population) in Feb 2020, with 2nd developer

Milestones 

Revised dates  confirmed in July by HESA, new dates replanned over 3 years

  • Implementation to Hecos by end Jan 20 
  • TBC -20/21 likely 3 returns using legacy returns (keep using current data model. Impact: will need ability to churn data volume and quality) 
  • TBC- 21/22 3 new returns

RAG Commentary
Red as 1) the Project Manager and Business Analyst who have left the project (conflict with Core Systems) in Oct have not been replaced . TBC new PM in Feb 20. BA resource has been escalated by sponsor. - 2) 2nd Dev resource has been secured from Feb20. -3) Lead developer has been conflicted with PCIM work over Dec/Jan... Impact 1, 2 & 3: project is delayed, agreed to suspend system changes activities over Dec and Jan . Also likely to need more resources in 2020/21 - 4) There is also uncertainty about the HESA requirements and when this will be communicated. Not a showstopper as current scope of work for 19/20 will prepare foundation for both system and data quality.
