Resources Skills and Cost

This project requires collaborative working across several areas of Information Services, the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and Procurement Services, as well as close working with the software supplier.

Project Services in IS Applications will undertake the management and planning of the project, including resourcing and the preparation of estimates. Project Services will also assit with drafting the EqIA. Desktop Services will work with the business users on delivering a solution for the implementation of secure online examinations via Speedwell's eSystem. College staff will also act as testers for the delivered solution, as well as the hosted environment once this is ready.

Development Technology and Applications Management in IS Applications will work on acquiring and assembling the networked infrastructure as well as the necessary testing of this with colleagues in CMVM. Staff in Digital Learning Applications & Media will also provide support to the testing, and each of these areas will also prepare the support mechanisms for the Speedwell service that this project will develop.

Finally, Procurement Services will assist with the procurement and licencing of the Speedwell software.

The estimated effort for IS Applications staff is 49 days.

For Desktop Services, a total of 10 days has been estimated.

DLAM have estimated their effort on the project at 5 days.

Infrastructure and licence costs:

  • Server costs for 8 servers covering both TEST and LIVE environments £40,000 over 5 years.
  • Licence costs for standard SQL would be £300 per year.
  • The licence module for Speedwell has not yet been finalised.
