Overview

Background

This work is to help review the assessment processes used within the College, and will be a natural progression of the work which comes out of project MVM012.

The project is to review the implementation of the Speedwell system for the Vets and Biomedical sciences, with a view to ensure that the underpinning IT platform is suitable for the future, and is held in a suitable enterprise production environment for both of these areas to utilise, but with one eye on what the future may hold for the College moving forward.

This project is to understand how the College undertake assessment and feedback, and ensure that suitable IT solution(s) are put in place to underpin these.

However, this has to be based on the broad and common assessment business processes so that the College can understand if there are opportunities to converge and standardise on one platform.

It should be noted that assessment and feedback is one of the areas of concerns for some areas of the College, and that this needs to be reviewed from the ground up, rather than picking an IT solution which may be perceived to “solve” the underlying problems.

Scope  

The scope of the project is to understand the business processes for each of the College areas who participate in the management and delivery of assessments and feedback.

This should then feed the most appropriate technical solution for the College.

Objectives

The project should:

1. Formalise the business requirements for assessment and feedback.
2. Work to review suitable technical solutions, including the University standard offerings.
3. Highlight costs, risks, timescales and other pertinent IT implementation project elements.
4. Suggest a work plan for delivery.
5. Implement a solution.

Deliverables

Work with the business stakeholders to agree a solution moving forward, and implement a suitable solution

An agreed approach to assessment and feedback within the College, underpinned by the most appropriate IT solution.
