Decommissioning Begins

Over the past two years, the MVM002 project has been migrating all MVM websites and applications - including eeMec, eeVec, OSCA and - from the old servers in Hugh Robson to the IS infrastructure. This process is now completing.

From today, the project team will begin to switch off the MVM applications servers in the Hugh Robson building, with the intention of requesting  complete decommissioning and removal of servers towards the end of this month.

Paul Clark, the project sponsor, thanks all the project team for the work to get us to this point.

Migration completed

Pending the Room Booking Service being confirmed, all migrations have been completed.

The team will now switch off the servers and wait two weeks

eeMec and eeVec migrated

All the 'complex' migrations have now completed.

Matt is moving onto the final tranche, which is the move of Windows 'complex' to Plesk.

Alain is working on this with matt.

Once done, then all that remains is the move of the Room Booking System by Alan Gilchrist's team, and then we are ready to swicth off all servers in  Hugh Robson.

Migration of Complex Sites under way

Of the 22 lives sites to be migrated. 4 are complete, 8 scheduled this week leaving 10 to do.

Have done comms for all sites, 1 site is confirmed that it cannot be migrated until after 26th Oct.

Waiting to hear from CMVM on the exam sites - can’t progress those until they confirm suitable dates.

A dependency between EEMeC/EEVeC and OSCA has also surfaced that will take some time to unpick so these will take a little longer now, and thus EEMeC/EEVeC become dependent on the OSCA migration.

Project replanned, ersourced and on course

With roles in LTW, USD and Apps now clarified by the Directors, and re-estimation done, with a smaller, focussed team, the project is on track to do bulk of migration by AUgust.

The WIndows-based sites may have to wait for COM014, but this is being chased up by PM to see if the October milestone could be earlier.

Good morale.

IS Directors - progress

The project can now move forward, with decision around personnel to dedicate to the project made by IS, LTW directors.

Smaller team, bire more focussed and with expectation of being able to quickly get some migration done for the complex hosting.

Notes 31/10

There has been a delay in the migration of the Word Press sites, as there is conflict on the 'ex-MVM' folk. Project Manager and Senior Supplier have asked for clarification from Senior Management in Apps, USD/MVM and LTW so it is clear who shoudl be working on this project and the priority of the project for them.
