Systems Analysis

  • Identify any operating systems, middleware or software that will become obsolete in the next three years
  • Check/update listings of what needs to be addressed/decommissioned
  • Communicate with other programmes to highlight what they need to include in planning
  • Undertake any 'orphan' or problematic migrations and decommissions
  • Pass on details of servers that can be taken out of service to ITI Enterprise
  • Maintain records of all affected servers and systems

Closure

  • Prepare completion report
  • Submit for approval
  • Close project

 

Resources, Skills and Costs

Tasks Estimate
To identify any operating systems, middleware or software that will become obsolete in the next three years 10 days
Updating registers; communicating with programme managers 10 days
Migrations that are not currently covered by annual plans for 18/19 20 days
Project planning & management/QA 10 days

 

The above estimate is based on last year's project and work carried out in previous years.

Staff from Development Technology and Technology Management will be the main resource (alongside the PM), with involvement from other sections as required. Colleagues from ITI Unix and ITI Architecture will also be involved.

Project Governance

The project sponsor is Stefan Kaempf, and the programme manager is Maurice Franceschi. The business lead is Heather Larnach. This will be the fifth year that this project team will have worked with the PM on this type of project and it is believed that this grouping have a very good understanding of what needs to be done and when.
