Work/Task Breakdown
We have 2 instances of CalSync
- one for Teaching timetabling and
- one for Exams timetabling
Find out the current versions of CalSync being used
- The current versions of CalSync are 1.20 for both of the instances, although one of the instances was completed by Hotfixes
- Although version 1.21 has been released the decision has been made to wait for version 1.22 which is due to be released in October 2019
This information regarding version 1.22 has changed the purpose of this project.
- Version 1.22 has be be deployed prior to October 2020, when an authentication change for Office 365 comes in to force when the CalSync connector is depreciated - and reaches end of life.
The Brief is being re-purposed to provide useful information for the next project which will be a larger piece of work that will be scheduled to take place between October 2019 and October 2020:
- Further background discussions of CalSync versions
- Decision to Withdraw COM048 (see PICCL 1)

Resources, Skills and Costs
Resources and Skills;
- Project Team will consist of Dev Tech, Applications Support, Project manager, Technology Management, Service Management, Timetabling Services, TTU Programme Manager
Cost;
- No additional costs are expected for this project (IS Applications days are covered by Core Funding)
- The proposal budgets for this project for:
- Bi-Annual Calsync Upgrade at 50 days
- Split between IS Apps at 40 days and
- Service Management at 10 days
- The Brief was stopped during planning / estimation and so no revised estimate has been provided at this point
- The estimate for the next project will have to be larger given:
- 'It looks like next year there will be a major change to how the application connects to O365 and therefore it would be worth adding a note to say that estimates may need to be increased as would the level of testing maybe including a performance test which is costly to set up. '
