Project to Update and Rationalise Windows Web Hosting started
We have started a new project to rationalise and upgrade our Windows-based web hosting service. The current servers are ageing and difficult to failover and restore (for DR purposes). They also run on out of date versions of MS Windows server, and use older versions of database and supporting system technologies. This all adds up to them becoming more difficult to maintain and support.
This project should provide a single, virtualised, up-to-date, Windows web-hosting environment, to replace the existing servers. The new environment is expected to make use of control-panel software (e.g. Plesk) to provision and maintain the virtual hosts. The work on the project also includes auditing and migrating content from the existing servers, and possibly also the decommissioning of the current environment.
