New Windows web hosting service now live

We have recently completed the delivery of a replacement hosting service (Windows-based) that updates the existing infrastructure and introduces new management software for site owners and service administrators. The service has been updated with new servers - these should provide a more reliable and improved service - that will host the websites and any related databases. The new software that has been introduced to the service (Plesk) is a control panel application that will enhance site management through a user interface.

Project Update - 16/06

This is a summary of where things are on COM014:

  • TEST service - servers built and tested. Test migrations completed and signed off.
  • Acceptance sign-off to be submitted this week.
  • LIVE service - some databases already migrated successfully.
  • Awaiting licence keys for CF on Live server - service will then be available for users to migrate Live websites (with Service Management support).
  • DR test to be completed.
  • Cosign sites to be migrated to alternative network location.

Project to Update and Rationalise Windows Web Hosting started

We have started a new project to rationalise and upgrade our Windows-based web hosting service. The current servers are ageing and difficult to failover and restore (for DR purposes). They also run on out of date versions of MS Windows server, and use older versions of database and supporting system technologies. This all adds up to them becoming more difficult to maintain and support.
