Report by Megan Graham for January 2018

 Achievements This Period

  • End of Project Planning milestone complete.
  • Project analysis complete.
  • Agreement between WIKI project and Database Resilience project on the best way to approach and manage the changes for the Database resilience work. Agreement to move Application to metro stretched cluster, as Phase 1, an handover server to Wiki Project by mid-February.

  • Complete Project Brief.

  • Project impact and  risk meeting with WIKI team and technical resources, which have been updated to the Project Web Site.

  • Wiki Application DEV environment, has been successfully moved to the metro stretched cluster .  Benchmark performance tests before and after move have been positive.
  • Move of TEST and LIVE environments for the WIKI application, to the stretched cluster, is due to take place by mid-Febrauary.

 Issues

  • Issue 3: Dependency on WIKi upgrade Project - Possible delay to overall timescales for the Project, beyond the end of year.
  • Issue 4: Strategic issue with Networks team, in that they have not approved the metro stretched cluster on the LIVE environment.  This will prevent the move to LIVE by mid-February.  This has been escalated to senior management via Service management.  Evaluation at beginning of February will determine the strategy, either move management ensure Networks approval to LIVE or we halt the work and move it out to after the Wiki upgrade.

 Next Steps

  • Evaluation at beginning of February will determine the strategy, either move management ensure Networks approval to LIVE or we halt the work and move it out to after the Wiki upgrade.

  • Escalation of RISK to Issue to allow WIS decision on best way forward.

  • Agreement with Wiki Upgrade project to have additional time before handover.

 RAG Commentary

Issue 3: Dependency on WIKi Project has moved the Project beyond the original plan into the next year.

Issue 4: Strategic decision for the metro stretched cluster moving to LIVE needs to be made.  This has been outstanding on the Networks team for over 18months.  Cannot set new target for milestone until this has been completed.  Decision to complete before the WIKi upgrade needs to be made by senior management team, for which PM will plan accordingly.
