Achievements this Period

• Progress continues on enabling the Bamboo plans. Developers continuing to work and document on this.
• Dev Tech continuing to set up GEN TEST environment in preparation for the migrations.

Issues

• On review of budget requirements, APPS migrations will not be done in 17/18. A proposal will be submitted for 100/150 days in 2018/19.
• Scope change agreed and to be recorded to include the upgrade of News from Oracle 12c to Oracle 12.2
• Budget change to allocate 50 days for 2017/18 to complete GEN and NEWS 12.2 upgrade.
• Issue with applying the Oracle 12.2 upgrade to GEN LIVE meant the upgrade could not continue. Oracle DB Upgrade Assistant – used to perform the upgrade – failed to launch. Oracle eventually provided a solution to this which is to install the dejavu fonts package on the server. Now tested and working. This upgrade now needs to be rescheduled.

Next Steps

• GEN Dev environment completed and documented
• LIVE environment to be upgraded to 12.2 ahead of the planned migrations. The only application on LIVE is Bamboo.
• Project to be replanned to complete GEN and NEWS 12.2 upgrade in 2017/18. APPS migrations to be removed and replanned for 2018/19.

RAG Commentary

Change - Scope RED as change required to migrate NEWS from Oracle 12c to Oracle 12.2. Budget change required to complete GEN migration and additional NEWS 12.2 scope. Time red as a result of change of scope and the extra effort required for GEN migrations. Revised budget and plan has been approved by Programme Manager and Owner, and will be actioned w/c 11 December, no action from SMT required.

LAMP / WIMP Platform Upgrade

Platform progress

• Servers are in place
• Passwords set up
• Configured puppet
• Ready for puppet code when it is handed over
• Established SSP contacts for testing PATH in Test
• Added SSP business contacts as stakeholders

Issues

• A resource conflict with the Unidesk Annual Upgrade project has resulted in the milestones being replanned and agreed (referred to in PICCL 4)

Next Steps :

• Look into RISK 7 re End Of Live YII to see what progress can be made
• Little other progress until Mid January
• Start on setting up new platform, delayed to be completed in February
• Set up new Platform in the environments (Dev, Test and Live), delayed to be completed in February
• Review and update draft of LAMP/WIMP findings on current platform, delayed to be completed in February

RAG Commentary

Change - Due to a resource conflict with the Unidesk Annual Upgrade project (SMI018), the milestones have been replanned and agreed with the Project Sponsor and Programme Manager. The project is now planned to deliver the new infrastructure in April 2018 (was previously January 2018).
