- Review meeting held on 12th May to review report and discuss new solutions and next steps
- Agreement to opt for dedicated virtual host clustered servers
- Project Sponsor to complete current cost baseline for management of existing SQL infrastructure this is to be used to compare against other options proposed by XMA
- Produce draft TAD for host servers
Until the new SQL server DB tier is complete, we have built 4 new shared SQL servers using the same format as our existing SQL infrastructure, these are now with Tech Man team to support with assistance to be provided by Dev Tech team
Issues - Delay in delivery of host specification and costings from XMA - this is being chased for information as currentlyXMA are unable to receive information from Dell due to mini tender between UoE and Esteem. This has been raised to George Reid at Procurement for assistance. XMA have now provided an alternative solution recommendation and costs these have been forwarded to the project team to discuss next steps.
- Draft TAD cannot be completed until host specification details regarding licences is provided
- Review Consultancy and Design together with Closure milestones to ensure project closure remains on target to complete by end of June.
Next Steps - Decision on server purchase to be agreed
- Present TAD to ITI via framework

ASTA Upgrade 15/16 C Milestones RAG Status RED | Report by Nikki Stuart for May 2016Achievements:- ASTA confirmed that there is no need to move the DB from the current server
- IS Apps Project Team agreed that the DB will not be moved in this project (supporting PICCL outstanding)
- Dev Tech resources secured for mid June TEST upgrade and mid July LIVE upgrade
- Discussion initiated with ASTA to consider remote upgrade by supplier
Issues:- Dev Tech resources not available to start TEST upgarde until mid June. This means that the earliest that July could be upgraded by Dev Tech is mid July, which is risky with the Apps end/start of year activities at the end of July. Discussions are underway with ASTA to determine whether they could remotely undertake the upgarde to reduce the risk and the timescales. As it may not be possible to reduce the timelines due to ASTA admins unavailability early July and therefore there is a risk that the upgarde will be delayed to 16/17.(see risk 5)
Next Steps:- Confirm upgrade resourcing approach and replan project
- Agree TEST and LIVE upgrade dates with ASTA, regardless of approach to upgrading the application they need to undertake a remote upgrade of the DB
- Update TAD
- Undertake TEST upgrade
Milestones (are provisional and provided for information only awaiting decision regarding Risk 5 and the upgrade approach) RAG Status is RED due to delivery date being changed by more than one month. |
