Schedule

The final delivery was not completed till January 13  2016 due to a post-deployment fix which could not be deployed until after the Christmas break, due to annual leave commitments.

Analysis of Resource Usage:

Staff Usage Estimate: 35 days

Staff Usage Actual: 30 days

Staff Usage Variance: -14%

Other Resource Estimate: 1 days

Other Resource Actual: 1 days

Other Resource Variance: 0%

Explanation for variance:

Actual effort below estimate

The developer did not need as much time for familiarisation as expected.

The developer was able to deliver the requirements using less effort than expected.

The deployment effort required of devtech required less effort than expected.

As no difficult issues were encountered during development or testing, the  project team did not need to hold many meetings and those that were held were kept short.

The agreed scope of the project was closely adhered to.

Key Learning Points:

Having to work with a very old version of PHP (5.3.3) caused significant problems in the development of the project. The version has been end of life for some time and the LAMP service should support newer versions. Without a new version of PHP any further development would be hindered. We recommend tha if the seminar site was to become a live service the hosting of the service should be reviewed for this reason.

Using JIRA to manage  the enhancements worked well.

Outstanding issues:

Follow-up on usage of site

No action is required under this project, but Susan McKeown, programme manager will arrange a meeting with the project sponsor in a few month's time in order to review how the usage of the site is progressing.
