Impact
Project Benefits
- The University will remain compliant with any HMRC changes for 14/15 and will not face any penalties or bad press for non-compliance.
- Oracle HR & Payroll system will be patched to cover any security updates provided by Oracle reducing the chance of any breaches of security of sensitive data.
- University will be able to issue P60s to staff and pensioners as legally required by mid May.
Dependencies
The Oracle HR & Payroll database must be moved within 14/15 to the new database server. As well as ensuring the database is running on a supported server the benefits to the users include reduced recovery times. If the project goes to plan the HRS081 Oracle HR & Payroll database migration project undertaking this work is planned to be complete in December-14. Any holdups to the migration will result in the migration being delayed until after PPP003 HR & Payroll Annual Maintenance 14/15.
Where possible patches should be grouped in to as few updates as possible so to minimise the impact to HR, Payroll and Pensions for testing and end users for any live downtime.
Testing and Downtime will need to be carefully planned around the key business activities, i.e. payroll and pensions updates/reporting.
There is another projects that will also be underway during this period, that will request the same resources. Using the Payroll and Pensions Business Diary when planning and when there are changes will be key to this project
