New-look PG Degree Finder now live on the website
The objective of this project is to update the Postgraduate and Undergraduate Degree Finder applications to seamlessly integrate them into the new University website, EdWeb. This is to announce that the updates to the Postgraduate Degree Finder are now live at http://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/postgraduate.
The online prospectuses are business-critical services. They represent the core recruitment activity of the University, with around 21 million visits in the last year. Ninety-six per cent of prospective students look at the University website for information on their preferred degree. For many applicants this is their first impression of the University; it is a crucial part of our interaction with students.
For the Postgraduate Degree Finder these changes have:
- Rebuilt the page layouts to function correctly within the responsive design of EdWeb. Users are presented with pages that are scaled appropriately regardless of the device they are using.
- Ensured that all degree finder functional aspects continued to work as expected so the application continues to meet business needs.
- Adopted the University’s design language EdGEL, with the degree finder now looking and functioning better than ever.
- Reorganised and prioritised page content to help users access information more quickly and easily.
- Increased the visibility of the browse and filter functions to help users find degree programmes more quickly.
- Exploited new Drupal proxy features such as integrated navigation and improved meta data handling to improve user interaction and the discoverability of prospectus content.
