67% of presenters said this saved them time

Provision of a separate presenter programme

67% of presenters found this "Extremely Valuable“

33% of presenters found this "Somewhat Valuable

How did students respond;

  • 72% of students surveyed from pilot schools said they provided guidance and there name was pronounced correctly compared to 67% from non pilot schools.
  • 86% of students survey stated their name being pronounced correctly had a positive effect on their day

What did the presenters say;

  • “It was particularly useful for eg Chinese names, both giving the order that the student would prefer and helping with pronunciation
  • “It really reduced the amount of time I had to spend and the number of colleagues that I had to consult, to be happy that I had the right pronunciations”
  • “I was slightly less daunted by the task of reading the names out - at least I felt I had a rough idea of how candidates wanted some of them pronounced.”
  • Recommend roll out. Though as an aid, not as a time-saving exercise
  • “If we could capture pronunciation at the beginning (Student Registration) it would mean that we could refer to a student correctly right from the start, there are very many overseas students whose names are a challenge, and once we've asked them a couple of times to remind us how to say their names it gets embarrassing to admit we've forgotten again…”

100% of Presenters recommend the roll out of Name Pronunciation
