Achievements in Last Period

Mellanox

Alces will be coming to the ACF to do the initial cabling and putting the switches into the racks where possible on the week beginning 15^th July.

We will receipt the goods at that point.

We were under the impression that the ACF were going to have a site power down in August at which point we were going to put the switches live, this however is no longer happening.

We are now back to trying to negotiate a go live window ourselves (David Fergusson).

TS3500 Tape drives

Tape Drives have been delivered. These cannot be installed as there is insufficient (UPS) power in the Data Centre. Assuming ACF are happy with the power proposal we have made, these will go in a part of a planned deployment in July.

VMWare Servers.

These have been delivered. We have a deployment and commissioning planning session next week.

Eddie Nodes.

The Nodes have been ordered and I’m expecting a delivery date any day now. This should be within 4 weeks.

The next aspect of this is agreeing a deployment plan that meeting there UPS Phasing requirements. We’ll need to progress this over the next couple of weeks.

To be able to do this, we need to identify what phase of UPS all the current nodes are all so when we put the new ones in we’re balancing things in the right way. We also need to do this so we can order the right lengths of cables.

The Research Systems Team need to review and agree what nodes can be replaced as part of this refresh, this can be done in the same timescales.

The current intention is that Alces will rack and stack these nodes the same week as there up to put in the Melanox cabling (Week commencing the 15^th July). The will be delivered and receipted before this, all going well.
