Project Outcomes Report for Information Services Group (13/14) Now Available

The year end project outcomes report for Information Services Group (ISG) highlighting key projects and benefits delivered during 13/14 is now available at: https://www.projects.ed.ac.uk/portfolio/isg

There were a number of successful projects across the ISG Portfolio delivering significant benefits for both students and staff. Highlights included:

• Upgrade to SAP Business Objects BI Suite (ITS092) - this project, part of the Communications, Media and Web programme, delivered a major step forward for the University’s Business Intelligence and Management Information (BI/MI) initiative.
• A new database tier for our businssess application (ITS100) was implemented as part of the IT Infrastructure programme, giving services improved resilience and recovery.
• The project to deliver a new Web Content Management System for the University Web Site programme (UWP010)  progressed well. The University Website Team and IS Applications Division teams are working closely together to create the infrastructure and underlying technology in advance of website migrations to the new platform.
• The major project to replace the existing Library Management System was also started.  With an increasing emphasis on electronic materials, a move to a ‘next generation’ Library Management Platform is essential.  The University is now embarking on a programme of projects to improve student satisfaction with the library collection and to improve back office efficiency so that the cost of buying and managing library collections once purchased is reduced.
