| BEMS Disaster Recovery Provision now Live |
A Disaster Recovery (DR) provision has been successfully deployed for the Building Energy Management System managed by Estates and Buildings. The DR provision provides full failover to a secondary site at Appleton Tower in the event that serious issues are encountered with the system at the primary site at King's Buildings. If a DR event is triggered, the Energy Team now have a facility to continue to monitor room temperatures and highlight alarms as required across the University Estate. |

20/05 Tech Mgt and Business User successfully completed live deployment, Business User has tested it successfully. The only issue arising from Tech Mgt was that they had to manually configure network settings (IP address) for the network card on the box at AT when it was restored onto AT, they had to log back into KB to get the required network settings. Tech Mgt will raise this with ITI team for a response. |

30/04 - received confirmation from Business User that outstations have all been swapped to new IP. Business User will email all clients and there are a few clients that haven't re-pointed yet but Business User will advise them through email and ad-hoc when asked. Business User used a virtual server rather than a laptop device for this task. Business User asked me to check whether Computer Name will be added prior to live DR. Will check with Dev Tech when meeting today about next steps. |

14/03 - another Unidesk call was put in to get the firewall rules updated with the servers new IP address. One of the existing rules was to allow the Sigma client software through to the server, so once updated, Business User should be able to connect from their PC. 17/03 - firewall rules now updated so ready for Business User to test connection. Update - connection was successful. We need to think about test scripts. 18/03 - met with Business User to view BEMS system. Agreed 3 simple tests for UAT would be: |

10/03/14 - Spoke to Dev Tech ref Uni Desk call to create Vlan. This is still with the Networks team and seems to be taking longer than expected to resolve. Left message with Network Services to confirm latest position so I can consider re-planning milestones or escalating as issue. The problem was that Business User couldn't load the software as he wasn't licensed. |

Dev Tech contacted me to say there was a small risk that the setting up of the network would miss its planned date because he discovered there were two stages for the set-up; Network Services have created the core network but the second stage is for ITI infrastructure team to add the network to the virtual machine network server and Dev Tech has raised a Unidesk call for them to do this, but it may take a week (ie. |

Dev Tech advised they would raise a Unidesk call to ask ITI Infrastructure team to review the Project Brief. Dev Tech confirmed 12/02/14 that he had confirmed with ITI that they was comfortable with the Project Brief. I introduced myself to the project contact from Network Services. Dev Tech advised they'd been in touch with Network Services who was still waiting on confirmation of the number of servers that need to be on the network; Dev Tech confirmed he'd confirm this. |
