Report by Colin Watt for March 2017
Achievements in Last Period
- Civitas onsite 15 and 16 March.
- Some progress made on definitions but further questions before during and after the on-site visit; Civitas working on this and sharing with Stephannie and Lesley.
- Progress on Data Validation; Stephannie and Lesley more confident of signing off on the programmes where they have examined the data in depth; there are still questions on scalability of the model when applied to new programmes. It has not been possible for UoE to complete all actions due to other commitments but these are expected to be completed w/c 10/04/17. There are outstanding issues from the 15/16 March visit which we are awaiting updates on from Civitas.
- A meeting with the Digital Education programme has been organised for 05/04/17 ahead of the next Project Board.
- Online meeting scheduled to look at UoE data in the Civitas Courses tool 18/04/17.
Issues
- Data Validation not yet signed off (see above).
- Turnaround time continues to be an issue; PM and Project Sponsor escalating with Civitas.
Next Steps
- Data Validation complete (for agreed programmes).
- Recommendations from Dragan and Sian.
- Paper for next KSC meeting to be drafted ahead of Project Board 27/04/17.
The project current status is AMBER (time) due to ongoing turnaround from Civitas which is causing delays.

Annual Moodle Upgrade
Compliance
Milestones
RAG Status: GREEN
|
Report by Colin Forrest for March 2017
Achievements in the last period
- The plan, estimate and brief have been signed off.
- The team have worked through four main questions for this upgrade project.
- The upgrade will require the development of a child theme for Moodle 3.2. The child theme is based on the default 'Boost' theme. Alongside manages in LTW and IS Apps discussion took place of the most appropriate way to tackle this in terms of skillset. It was agreed that IS Apps Software Development would produce the bare bones child theme. This would have all the functionality required and allow us to test the upgrade to version 3.2. Teams within LTW would then apply styling to that theme, such as a header image and EdGel attributes.
- It is not anticipated that there will be any infrastructure changes. However the team wish to confirm the performance of Moodle. Moodle contain benchtest functionality and we will use this to establish benchtests for Moodle. This has the benefit of being able to be used during the 'middle' upgrade which will happen each 6 months after the main upgrade project.
- Work has been taking place to integrate o365 functionality into Moodle. Although nopt within the scope of this project the team agreed that we must not break any of the current o365 configuration in DEV when we upgrade to v3.2.
- The team agreed that the outstanding work from the Moodle Feeds project would not be completed within our scope. however the project would deliver a recommendation of any next steps required to tidy that process.
Issues
Next steps
- Sign off the BRD, SDS and update DEV.
