Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

Commentary

Sheila Fraser is taking on the role of Portfolio Manager for the College of Science & Engineering from Nikki Stuart ahead of her upcoming leave. Many thanks to Nikki for her work on this portfolio over the last two years.

Bruce Nelson and Sheila Fraser are due to meet on 18th August to discuss plans for the SCE Ring fenced days for 14/15. As there is work for SCE004 which has not completed in 13/14 this will need to be funded from the ring-fenced days for 14/15 unless an alternative is agreed.

SCE003 Path Enhancements - RED - testing completed successfully and project is now deployed to LIVE. RED due to being over budget (128d current estimate vs 110d agreed budget). Unplanned carry-over is agreed to be transferred to SSP for 14/15 along with the project.

SCE004 University Seminar Site - RED - completion of build tasks further delayed due to the Sponsors availability (list of talks with which to pre-populate the site not yet received in a manner which can be uploaded successfully). Project requires replanning and will be completed in 14/15, milestones and budget to be agreed with Sponsor and budget with Portfolio Owner.

Report by Sheila Fraser (for Sally Hayward) for July 2014

Achievements in Last Period

  • Wiki for help guide created and ready for Bob's team to populate (confirmed Bob has access)
  • Intermediate list of talks for pre-populating site received, however the data does not correspond to the fields that need to be completed on the site. An updated version of the list has just been provided by Bob.
  •

Issues

  • The proposed resilient infrastructure introduced complexities for file saving which were going to take additional effort to solve; this has been resolved by simplifying the infrastructure. The ITI/Unix team have a request to change folder permissions to support this simplified infrastructure, once this is resolved (and the final list of talks to pre-populate received) then work can be completed on the Development environment (DEV).

Next Steps

  • Complete and sign-off the build on DEV (permissions for image saving and pre-population of talk information)
  • Promote the solution to TEST
  • Complete sign-off of the TAD

The milestones on the left reflect the last agreed milestone date, some of these have passed and the project will be re-planned with the Project Sponsor next week now he is back from holiday. As the milestones have passed without being completed (and there is not yet agreement on new dates), and the project is estimated to take more than the current agreed budget the project is RED.
