Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

The MVM programme continues at a time of significant change for MVM IT. The new LTW division is now in place, with resulting changes in MVM support, and the College is undertaking a strategic review of its IT services.

For now, and already as a result of these changes, the main project remains the MVM002 Transition of MVM Hosted Application to IS Infrastructure. 120 days are set aside for this project in this year, but much will depend on the MVM College IT review and how it prioritises applications and sets out a road map for them, and also agreements between LTW, USD and Applications as to the support model and resourcing post-divisional re-organisation, expected in early November.  The later the agreements take, the less likely we are to burn through the 120 days so need to manage risk of having unspent days in the programme.

Core funding days continue to fund small pieces of analysis as per last year, and also some days are given for analysis of possible TRISTAN replacement. However, almost all this work is now completed.

MVM003 is a separate 'non-Apps' analysis piece. MVM005 is a funded development managed by the Apps Development Team, the MVM005 code being used for accounting purposes primarily. However, there are some concerns around the sponsor engagement on this project which is causing risk to delivery and timescales.

Possible TRISTAN Replacement

The current position is that Liverpool no longer wish to collaborate with Edinburgh on developing software to replace TRISTAN.

If MVM ask IS Apps to set up and resource a project to do so, this would be a major project in terms of effort, complexity and reputation for the University.

RAG Status

AMBER

Report completed by Maurice Franceschi for December 2014

The budget likely to be insufficient to do the work in 14/15 - this is why the status of the project is AMBER

After the divisional restructure, resource is now available again to complete the WordPress migrations. Project Manager and Senior Supplier have asked for clarification from Senior Management in Apps, USD/MVM and LTW so it is clear who should be working on this project and the priority of the project for them.

Once we have this, then we can replan the migration of 'complex' sites.

The review of MVM applications by the College is required to help prioritise migrations, also expected by January.
