 Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

 

During this period, work has continued on all active projects

The IS Application resourcing over the period throughout May can be summarised as follows:

  • May 2013  91 days which equates to a monthly burn rate of 190%
  • The overall burn rate for the year is 108%

 

The programme is now no longer in budget as an additional 30 days as are required for ITS100 Implement New Database Tier with the balance row in April showing 25 days available. In additional to this ITS095 SOA Upgrade will also required more days to complete this year. The number of days will become clearer in the early part of June.

Achievements This Period
  • The DEV environment has been completed
  • The TEST environment has been built and only require to have the test and fault handling frameworks applied.
  • DEV TECH time re-planned to allow LIVE environments builds to progress in parallel.
  • TEST environment SOA database placed on new infrastructure. SOA database is at 11g.

Issues

  • The TAD will not complete until the TEST environment closes, therefore build review will not complete untl w/c 10/06.
  • 2 Outstanding JIRAs to be reviewed before PPBR.
  • Revised budget not yet approved to close off the final tasks for the Development and TEST environments.

Next steps

  • Replan PPBR on TEST server build and sign off on TAD.
  • Confirm LIVE ,DR and remaining milestones based on estimates for server builds now that security work is no longer of an unknown timescale.
  • Have revised budget approved and milestones approved.

The project has been marked as Red as milestones and budget have yet to be agreed.

Achievements in Last Period
  • Solution proposed for TNS issue - implemented successfully
  • Testing of incremental backups established
  • All checks passed for signing off DEV environment
  • 'AFM' account problem resolved & firewall issues sorted out
  • Database migration & application repoint completed
  • Switchover & failover testing carried out successfully
  • Build stage signed off (24/05)
  • Message saying that DEV environment is now available sent out to IS Apps
  • Preparation for migration of EBIS TEST started
  • Scripting of automatic repointing completed and tested successfully
  • Fast Failover scripted and tested (with positive results)
Issues
  • Migration of EBIS DEV delayed because of work taking longer than estimated
  • 'AFM' account problem raised with ITI Unix
  •  Issues for CSG001 caused by EBIS DEV downtime
Next Steps
  • Migration of EBIS TEST planned for 06/06
  • Preparation for migration of LIVE database (24/06)
  • New environment to be made available for wider use

Achievements in Last Period

  • SETON Training migration activity completed on 1st May
  • TEST - MINARD / FYVIE, LEVAN / ROTHES and CMACLEAN migrations completed by 3rd May
  • LIVE - MORTON / NIDDRY, FENTON / HAILES and CMACLEAN migrations completed by 10th May
  • Removal of old Test storage for SETON / MINARD / FYVIE, LEVAN / ROTHES and CMACLEAN
  • Removal of old Live storage for GLAMIS / ORASITSAT / ORASITSKB / MORTON / NIDDRY / FENTON / HAILES and CMACLEAN
  • Engagement with ITI Architecture to plan out additional 380 disk migrations, identifying resource
  • Service Management confirmed that BROOME server can be descoped from Windows Server migration

Issues

  • Delayed engagement with ITI Architecture to commence planning activity for Windows server migration, key resource now identified and assessment of active mount points and LUN information underway therefore project status AMBER.
  • Individual migration plans required for each set of servers.

  • Technical Architecture Document updates completed and agreed
  • Build and peer testing completed together with build review and approval given
  • Build handover completed with Application Management
  • Integration testing completed

Issues

Initial build completed to plan however peer testing problems with timeouts on batch prints identified – load balancer / cold fusion problems investigated by DevTech as inconsistent test results, this impacted the completion of build review and knock on effect to integration testing and UAT commencement.

Deployment date to be moved to a mid week date - 18/19 June
