Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

Overall Programme RAG: GREEN

The programme starts 15/16 in a strong position.

All projects planned to deliver and complete last year year did, apart from INF108 which has just a very little effort carried over onto 2015/16 and is closing.

There was enough budget to start off three 15/16 projects in July, enhancing the chances of another successful programme delivery this year.

We can expect the System Monitoring proposal to split into a pilot and then implementation projects.

System Monitoring Solution - Pilot

INF107 having completed, the next project will split into a Pilot phase to validate the technical solution and the process changes recommended, before procurement/implementation.

We had hoped to start this in 2014/15 but due to other priorities and resource constraints, will start in Q4 2015 once we have discussed with colleagues in ITI.

Service Resilience Capability

Staff and students have been operating more and more on a 24x7x365 basis. Service availability is key to ensure this. While our infrastructure is robust, issues to arise and as we do not have personnel on hand to the same timeframe, an automated facility is required.

To start Q1 2016

Annual upgrades of development tools (JIRA, Bamboo, etc) (15-16)

We have taken on the above products as part of our core workflow for project (and support) delivery in recent times. As such they are essential to our ability to successfully deliver change within the University. Failure to keep the products up to date and in a supportable position exposes us to the risk of serious issues with the software that may affect their ability to run and operate in our environment.

To start Q1 2016
