Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update
The INF programme has completed for 13/14 with all the projects closing by end of the year and no carry over into next year.
A report reviewing the programme's successes and difficultiers over 13/14 is available from the programme website.
There are a number of actions from the INF104 for the programme to be aware of. These are listed in a dedicated page. https://www.projects.ed.ac.uk/programmepage/30193

Section Two: Projects Not Started
| Project Info | Programme Manager's Commentary |
| Decommission Obsolete Infrastructure | This project is to remove costly end of life services by decommissioning Solaris (including corporate firewall and network), obsolete Windows servers, and older Oracle versions. Introduction of new technologies has meant a growing complexity arising in our infrastructure that creates difficulties for maintenance and obstacles to keeping hardware and software up to date. This is particularly true for the obsolete technologies that in terms of all types of cost are proportionally more expensive to maintain |
| New Application Tier Replacement | This project is to provide a new infrastructure for the application tier, implementing the recommendations of the 13/14 INF104 project. This would be a skeleton framework implemented to support the application tier going forward and to underpin any new developments in the application tier across business areas. This project will only provide the infrastructure and will not include any migrations. |
| Annual upgrades of development tools (JIRA, Bamboo, etc) | The Division has built up reliance on a number of key products over the years to assist in project and service delivery. This project would apply relevant upgrades to the following products as required: JIRA JIRA Agile Bamboo ASTA We will look to upgrade to latest stable and supported versions of the products above. This will not review new functionality and only concentrate on software upgrades. |
| Automated Server Builds | This project is to take forward the recommendations of the current 13/14 project to produce a proof of concept. This project will provide the necessary production infrastructures required to deploy new environments and will produce a list of environments that can be managed under the service. The project would also produce recommendations for future projects and how to incorporate new services into the automated build system. |
| Procure - Implement monitoring solution | This project follows the recommendations of the “Options appraisal on monitoring solutions” business case project. At this point it is not known if this project will procure a new monitoring tool or use already existing monitoring tools. |

AP34-039 Development Tool Upgrades | Withdrawn on 30/8/13. https://www.projects.ed.ac.uk/planning/project/141 This was due to impact on programme budget from carry over 12/13 projects. However, we hope to be able to bring the project back into the 13/14 programme if budget, priority and new estimates allow.
The Division has built up reliance on a number of key products over the years to assist in project and service delivery. This project would apply relevant upgrades to the following products: JIRA JIRA has fallen a few version behind latest version, so it may be this upgrade is required. Whether a proejct is required remain to be re-assessed.
Greenhopper This is a small task to be done under APP004
Bamboo This is a small task that should be covered by current Support arrangements.

| AP34-041 Business Data Recovery and Storage Implementation | Report by Maurice Franceschi
This project has been withdrawn, April 2014. https://www.projects.ed.ac.uk/planning/project/140 This proposal will implement the findings of the review of data recovery and storage requirements for IS Applications as part of a wider review by ITI. The review will have outlined the requirements for storage of business data for disaster recovery/backup, archival and replication purposes. The necessary technical infrastructure will have been provisioned during 12/13 period as a result of the review and this proposal will bring the Applications service under the revised process and facilities. Tony Weir will be developing the brief. The work is temporarily on hold due to conflicts with other priority work, but Tony has confirmed that it will happen in first half of 2014, and that it will be a procurement followed by an installation. The IS Apps effort involved for each project needs re-estimated. Currently this is a Small budget proposal. The project has been withdrawn as there has been no progress from ITI, there is less time to complete the project in the current year, and there is now no budget available due to the increase in the ITS103 budget.
