Commentary

 

UPDATE on 8th April - HRS073 eRecruitment Phase 1b has been updated to a RED status. The supplier has failed to meet the early April delivery of Priority 1 and Bug Fix work and all remaining supplier milestones are currently at Risk. Matter has been escalated to Project Board and discussions are underway with Core's Senior Supplier to ascertain the current situation and confirm whether remaining milestones are achievable. 

 

HRS068 - eRecruitment Lessons learned exercise had to be postponed to allow key people to attend an urgent Autoenrolment/Tax Year End Meeting. Due to leave and other commitements this exercise cannot be held until April

HRS070 - Closure delayed  so as not to impact resourcing of HRS072 during critical phase. Closure reschdeuled for end April. 

HRS071 - Project reviewed and no change to milestones or budget required for loss of lead developer. Build now complete.

HRS072 - Tax Year End, Auto Enrolment and all release Real Time Information patches applied to LIVE by the start of year. Patching now underway for JRE and milestones for the final security and RTI patches agreed. 

HRS073 - Project green for March, however, Supplier has indicated that not all Priority 1 and Bug Fix deployments will be made available at the start of April as expected. Discussions underway with Supplier as it is not clear what the impact will be. 

HRS074/AP23-053 - Project initiated with planning to formally start in April.

  • Oracle have agreed to resolve the missing V9 history files as a bug.

Achievements in last period:

System Build work (excluding APEX forms) completed.

Issues:

Oracle canceled its course offering for the APEX software, which the project's second developer was scheduled to attend in late March.  Oracle offered a place on the June course offering in London, but this would not have allowed the subsequent HESA forms development to meet the hard HESA milestones.  The only other option offered by Oracle was that the University secure an additional course offering in April in Edinburgh, by booking four places on that course.  IS Applications have secured this new course offering.  However, its delay will mean that the APEX forms will not be completed in time for the planned release of the Build for UAT testing.  It has been agreed with the Business Area Manager that the rest of the Build will be released on the agreed schedule, and that the APEX forms will follow when they become available. 

The project team has still not received the complete business requirement for deriving the LEVELS field.  Since this phase of the Build is now complete, any subsequent changes to the preliminary business logic provided for this field will be raised through a Jira and applied during the UAT stage.  

The PPIP requirements, although completed as part of the project's Build stage, were subsequently removed from the project's scope by the Business Area Manager.  The PPIP database and code changes that were applied by the second developer have therefore been removed.  

Next Steps:

Business Area Manager to provide the full business logic required to derive LEVELS.

Developers to attend Oracle APEX training.

Second developer to build APEX forms.

Build (excluding APEX forms) to be reviewed and signed off by ISA project team and managers.

Build (excluding APEX forms) to be deployed to Test and Integration tested.

Achievements in Last Period -

  • Release to TEST re Phase 2 TYE & RTI completed 5th March
  • UAT for Phase 2 for TYE & RTI completed on 6-7th March
    • UAT was not signed off by the Business due to some payroll processing occurring twice, so the Go Live planned for 11-12th March was cancelled and delayed until issues were sorted.
    • Rescheduled for later in March
  • Milestones and estimates revised for remaining Phase 2 pieces of work
  • P2 TYE & RTI signed off in LIVE 27th March.  
  • Unplanned Urgent AE Patch required. Completed in DEV on 27th March and signed off 27th March
  • Unplanned Urgent AE Patch required. Completed in TEST on 28th March and signed off on 29th March
  • Unplanned Urgent AE Patch required. Completed in LIVE on 1st April and signed off on 1st April

 

Issues

  • P2 P60 coded however had an issue  and has been raised with Oracle
  • First unplanned Auto-enrolment work was required as soon as possible and had to be accommodated before the tight P2 TYE + RTI patches deadlines.
    • This then reduced the time available for TYE + RTI in Dev and Test
    • Separating out and replanning the P2 Security patches
    • Delaying implementing the P60 work
  • Original TYE & RTI work was delayed deploying to LIVE from 11th-12th March to 26-27th March
  • HR Globals caused errors when completing patches, however this was resolved in time for the go LIVE implementation  of TYE & RTI on 26-27 March.
  • Unplanned Urgent TYE + RTI required patch arrived 25-Mar-13 also required for Phase 2 go LIVE - was progressed after the TYE & RTI on 26-27 March and progressed in time to go LIVE 1st April

 

Next Steps

  • P2 P60 with Oracle, hope to have resolved during April - no down time required.
  • P3 JRE patches and Password change scheduled for April, DEV 3rd April, TEST 9th April and LIVE 2nd May.
  • P3 more RTI patches and Security Patches planned during May

  • Core delivered Priority 1 and Priority 2 deliverables to TEST
  • HR Systems Team have started testing

  • Test scenarios and sign off criteria for the Priority 2 deliverables drafted
  • Test Criteria reviewed by Core and feedback recieved. Minimal changes required and all meet with the original requirements
  • Specifications for all Core dervelopments reviewed by HR Systems Team
  • User Group meeting held
  • TAD and Operational documentation updated for the PDF replacement
  • Design sign off for the PDF replacement
  • PDF replacement deployed to DEV and TEST

 

Issues 
  • The testing of the BOXI universe has been impacted by the complexity of the raw data. This is being progressed between HR and IS Apps with assistance from Core. 
  • The project required to be replanned based on the delivery dates for teh Priority 1 and Priority 2 updates. 
  • PDF Replacement is linked to the software upgrade and therefore it appears cannot be released to users before end June. 

 

Next Steps
  • Continue testing for Core Releases
  • HR Systems Team sign off relesaes ready for User Testing
  • Sign Off UAT of the PDF replacement solution
  • Agree deployment date for the PDF replacement
  • Progress investigation in to the BOXI universe issues with the aim of completing UAT
