Report by Sue Woodger for April 2017
Achievements in Last Period
- An EdGEL Steering Group meeting of 5 April confirmed deliverables and timelines for all 4 projects
- The deliverable for Gap Analysis was approved 24 April
- The deliverable for the Hackathon plan was approved 24 April
Issues
- The Style Guide (O1 D4) deliverable was 30 May (agreed at EdGEL Steering Group of 5 April). However this will be a large piece of work and cannot be delivered by 30 May due to the other work the consultant has to deliver in this timeframe so to give time to implement this piece of work properly the sponsor asked for 7th July to be the deliverable date. This deliverable is aligned to the milestone ‘Framework for delivering EdGEL’ with a due date of 30 June so the milestone date was also moved to 7 July to accommodate the Style Guide deliverable
Next Steps
- EdGEL Website Update review and proposal completed by 19 May. Consultant informs that this likely to finish well before the deadline
- Next milestones will be the end of May

Report by Sue Woodger for March 2017
Achievements in Last Period
- Project brief signed off 10 April
- An EdGEL Steering Group meeting of 5 April confirmed deliverables and timelines for all 4 projects (piccl 3 lists the milestone changes for DTI007)
- Investigative phase document circulated for approval
- Resources secured for development work from LTW and IS Apps
Issues
- Due to commitments in LTW the developer was no longer able to pick up work on the technical requirements gathering or the evaluation of tools and frameworks. We have now secured her time to pick this work up from 15 May. This will not affect the milestone these deliverables are aligned to i.e. First pass of a working, compliant EdGEL – dev work due 5 Jun.
Next Steps
- PM has circulated (27 Apr) costs discussed at initial investigation meeting with Tech Lead. Once okayed by Tech Lead and Programme manager we can sign this milestone off
- EdGEL Compliance Audit completed by 12 May
- Next milestone ‘Guidelines for contributing to and using EdGEL’ due end of May

Report by Sue Woodger for April 2017
Achievements in Last Period
- Neil produced slides giving an overview of UX programme activity which have been passed to Gavin for review. These can be used in communications and are to express what we're doing; show how the 3 strands together are greater than the sum of their parts and help identify how we know if we're achieving change.
- An EdGEL Steering Group meeting of 5 April confirmed deliverables and timelines for all 4 projects (piccl 2 lists the milestone change for DTI009)
- Magdalena ran through her UX process via her wall space with Sue Woodger and Ruth McCallum to align with UoE Business Analysis process
- All pilots have now been identified – these are
- DTI011 User Centred Portal (UCP) – concentrating on Timetabling - Magdalena is working on this now
- COM027 Enterprise API Foundation (via Alex Carter)
- DTI011 User Centred Portal and Notifications (via Paul Clark) - concentrating on Notifications
- UCP reported back that the work Magdalena was doing on the UCP portal was incredibly useful
- Agreed the form the deliverable ‘Identify how to work with and Support Student Experience Standards project’ would take – it will be a framework document incorporating Documenting the process; The artefacts created; Use Cases and Lessons Learned
Issues
- Karl and Magdalena are working together on the deliverable ‘Identify how to work with and Support Student Experience Standards project’ but haven’t had more than initial discussions. We agreed the framework for the outcome and it was agreed by the project team to move the deliverable date to 12 June to allow them more time to work on this (but which will still achieve the aligned milestone date)
Next Steps
- A walkthrough of the UX process will take place to 9 May to sign off that deliverable
- UX Steering Group meeting to be held 18 May
- Neil and Magdalena will be looking at how to establish a cycle of delivery to meet university demand by mid May
- Neil and Magdalena will identify who to target for training and will refine the pilot training by end of May
- Magdalena to start on the evolution of the training package
- Magdalena continuing with planning for the pilot for User Centered Portal (DTI011)
- Neil working on a first pass of the comms for all projects
- Neil producing slide on each project summarising what each project is about
